Our commitments

Our ethical commitment: beyond certifications

Our pods are certified organic and fair trade , but our approach goes beyond these essential labels.

In Madagascar, approximately 80,000 farmers depend on vanilla cultivation, often in isolated regions where few other sources of income exist. At Hakanto, we work directly with certified producer cooperatives, guaranteeing:

Fair and stable remuneration , complete traceability from planting to your kitchen and an absolute refusal of child labor at all stages of production.

Remarkable quality, far from industrial standards

Our pods are selected according to strict criteria that far exceed the standards of large retailers:

A premium size : long, fleshy and supple pods, an optimal moisture level : 30-35% for perfect preservation and superior aromatic richness: vanillin content of 1.6 to 2.2%.

Preserving the future: sustainability and biodiversity

The cooperatives we work with, which are certified organic, are located in fragile and precious natural ecosystems, which can only be preserved by giving pride of place to sustainable and natural farming methods, essential to the protection of biodiversity.

Growing vanilla under forest shade, according to the principles of organic agroforestry, contributes to:

  • Protecting Madagascar's unique ecosystems (more than 760 listed plant species)
  • Maintain vegetation cover and limit erosion
  • Preserving biodiversity, including endemic species
  • Reducing pressure on natural resources while ensuring income for communities
