Our Story
Hakanto means "beauty" in Malagasy — the kind that comes from the right gesture, from work accomplished with artistry. It is this beauty that we seek in each pod: that of exceptional vanilla, shaped by expert hands, with absolute respect for people and nature.
Uncompromising excellence
Our promise can be summed up in a few words: to offer food enthusiasts the vanilla they deserve. Vanilla worthy of the finest kitchens, driven by a clear vision: aromatic excellence and ethics can mutually enrich each other.
With Hakanto, we celebrate local know-how and offer a luminous counter-narrative — that of a sector that truly values producers, respects natural rhythms and elevates a rare product.
The Malagasy terroir: a unique aromatic treasure

Madagascar produces more than 80% of the world's vanilla. This position is not a matter of chance: the tropical climate and the ancestral know-how of the producers create an incomparable alchemy.
Each pod requires months of maturation after being pollinated entirely by hand, flower by flower, at sunrise. This meticulous process is followed by a traditional transformation: scalding, gradual fermentation, and drying in alternating sun and shade for several weeks.
This patience develops the exceptional aromatic richness of gourmet vanilla from Madagascar: more than 250 aromatic compounds, with a natural vanillin content of at least 1.6% for our premium pods.
True beauty
Behind each pod lie faces, stories, and centuries-old expertise. High-quality vanilla demonstrates the aromatic power and nobility of Madagascar's terroirs, while celebrating the dignity of those who cultivate it.
Because true beauty — hakanto — is born from the harmony between the excellence of the product and respect for those who create it.
